Ask Embla - Impossible (official original demo)

Ask Embla is a new band consisting of Ina Wroldsen (Norway) & Arnthor Birgisson (Island). They are  both excellent songwriters, and together they wrote the song "Impossible" two years ago. This week their song has reached no. 1 in the UK iTunes charts after being sung and recorded by UK X-Factor winner James Arthur.

If you ask me (and maybe if you Ask Embla as well?) I prefer this original demo of the song, it's miles better, and Ina sings it with so much passion and emotion compared to what we get delivered from the X-factor winner...

Ask Embla has revealed that they will be releasing an album in February 2013.

Alt-J feat. Mountain Man - Buffalo

This years Mercury Price winners Alt-J has teamed up with Mountain Man and written the soundtrack for "Silver Linings Playbook", the new motion picture film written and directed by David O. Russel. A great soundtrack to what looks to be a great film! Have yet to go see it, but it's on top of my list!

Man Get Out - Sordid Affair

'Sordid Affair' is the brand new single from Liverpool based up-and-coming band Man Get Out, produced and recorded by Al Groves at Sandhills Studios.

The Milk - (All I Wanted Was) Danger

On Monday The Milk released their new video for '(All I Wanted Was) Danger', taken off their debut album 'Tales Of The Thames Delta'. Directed by Julia Rogowska & Magdalena Zalecka, and winner of the £3,000 genero.tv prize. Last night they played their last gig of their UK tour at O2 Academy in Oxford, and the night before they played their biggest headline show yet at the Empire in Shepherds Bush. This is a band to keep an eye on!

Röyksopp featuring Susanne Sundfør - Running To The Sea

Last night Röyksopp and Susanne Sundfør teamed up to perform live on the very last broadcast of Norwegian  television show NRK Lydverket. 'Running To The Sea' was written and recorded in two days for this performance as a collaboration between the two artists. Röyksopp state on their website that this is a collaboration they have been thinking about for quite a while. 

"For a long time we've been considering an artist collaboration with Susanne Sundfør, and the final anniversary show of NRK Lykverket turned out to be the ideal time and place" Svein & Torbjørn. 

"It was inspiring and fun working with Röyksopp. They're blessed with an outstanding musical talent and flair for tunes" Susanne Sundfør

The song will be released as a single, but there's no official release date yet.

Pearl Fiction feat Malin Dahlström (Niki And The Dove) & Stefan Storm (Sound Of Arrows) - Stories From A Purple Soul

I randomly stumbled upon this music video while looking for updates from Niki & The Dove. Pearl Fiction from Stockholm has teamed up with Malin Dahlström (Niki And The Dove) and Stefan Storm (Sound Of Arrows). The text written by Mattias Brunn (Zeigeist). Together they have created a beautiful piece of Swedish alternative pop. What a team!

'Stories From A Purple Soul' is taken from Pearl Fiction's album "Painted Wolf", released on Bibbi Records/Sony Music. The song has only been released in Scandinavia yet. So for now, just sit back and enjoy the music video:

BigBang - Like Americans Do

Norwegian BigBang have announced that they are releasing their next studio album "The Oslo Bowl" on the 1st March 2013. The first single of the album 'Like Americans Do' is now available on iTunes, Wimp & Spotify and the music video in now on on YouTube.

'Like Americans Do' has more of an American folk and classic rock resemblance to it than their previous album 'Epic Scrap Metal', and the lyrics deal with the american  stereotype.
